Jewellery Care

All product descriptions state the material that has been used to create the product. Depending on this, each jewellery material will have different care instructions.

Precautions to take:

At Byencee, we aim to deliver the highest achievable quality, however all jewellery can be preserved longer with a little care. Please avoid contact with bleach, sanitiser, greasy creams etc on jewellery which can eat away at the plating. Our jewellery will not turn your skin "Green" however, the higher exposure to chemicals the quicker the colour will fade away. By following jewellery care you should see no signs of wear for up to 2-3 years.

Handle with love and care:

If jewellery gets wet, simply pat it dry with a towel.

Some pieces can be quite delicate and dainty, so we recommend that you handle them with love when fastening and removing them. It is also ideal to store your jewellery in a cool, dry place where the metal cannot react.

Products that don’t have a base of stainless steel may tarnish over time; however our gold plating lasts for over a year. Byencee is not responsible for the maintenance of your jewellery.

Our Stainless steel Jewellery:

We love stainless steel because it doesn't harm the person making or wearing it & it's well known for its high resistance to tarnish and corrosion. All our products that have a base of stainless steel can be worn in water with no risk of tarnishing, it may slightly speed up the rate that the gold fades so if you wish to maintain the jewellery for as long as possible we recommend removing when showering. The beauty of our stainless steel jewellery is that it's thick Gold Plated and when it turns, it fades to a lovely ombre of Gold & Silver.

Our Gold Filled Jewellery:

These jewellery items are not actually filled with gold. They are made of a base metal (usually brass or copper) covered by sheets of gold in a mechanical bonding process. Usually made with 14k gold, it is hard wearing. With reasonable care it will not peel or flake, and should last as long as solid 14k gold jewellery. It is safe for most people with sensitive skin.

Gold filled products are very sensitive to alkaline liquids, so please try to stay away from a series of alkaline products such as laundry detergent and soapy water. We would still recommend you take them off while showering to keep them looking brand new. Feel free to use a mild jewellery cleaner on 14K Gold, & Gold Filled jewellery.

Items involving Gold plated metals (brass/steel base): need to be carefully looked after to sustain their plating.

A base metal such as steel/ brass is dipped into a bath of electroplating solution, with a lump of solid gold. When an electric current is applied, a thin layer of gold is deposited on the metal. Since the plating is quite thin, the plate (and hence the colour) on findings can wear off.

To keep your BYENCEE (gold plated) Jewellery looking new, avoid contact with the following:

  • Perfume
  • Chlorine
  • Household Cleaners
  • Skin Lotion
  • Do not wash

Remove ALL (gold plated) jewellery before showering, swimming, exercising and sleeping.

Everyone's skin type is different. Some people have strong reactions to bronze, nickel & gold plating. If you are susceptible to this, please avoid buying non-solid gold or sterling silver jewellery. We do not offer refunds or returns for this reason. We apologise in advance.
